Effective Oct 1 2022:  All garbage, including recycling, must be brought to the landfill in town bags.

The Town is requiring that all residents put their recycling waste (empty plastic containers, glass, aluminum cans, and paper) into a town bag to be brought to the landfill. Recycling will still be sorted separately from the other wet garbage, so please bring your recycling and wet garbage in separate bags. When disposing of the recycling, we ask that you empty your bag into the recycling receptacle and then dispose of the used bag into the trash compactor (where other wet garbage bags are disposed). Bags may not be reused. Cardboard does not need to be brought in a town bag and may be placed directly in the bailer.

Town bags may be purchased at the Landfill, 1076 Gunnlaugsson Road, during hours of operation which are Monday and Wednesday, 7 AM to 12 PM and Saturday, 10 AM to 2 PM. Bags may also be purchased at the Town Office, 910 Main Road, Monday through Friday, between 8 AM and 4 PM. Both locations accept cash or check only. Town bags are available in two sizes, 15-gallon, and 33-gallon. They are sold in packages of 5 bags, priced at $7 for 15-gallon bags (green in color), and $15 for 33-gallon bags (blue in color). Town bags may be used for either recycling or wet garbage.
