Fireworks Permit

Steps

  1. Pick up form and apply at Town Office

  2. Pay $100.00 fee

  3. Town issues permit after approval at subsequent Town Board meeting

  4. Town informs Washington Island Police Department and Washington Island Fire Department

Town of Washington Fireworks Permit Top Ten

  1. Group permits MUST have a copy of “Certificate of Liability Insurance or Indemnity Bond”

  2. Permit is only good for (2) hours maximum, nothing after 11PM

    • Permit is only good for July 3rd, 4th, or 5th

    • If the 4th of July falls on a Monday or Tuesday, the Saturday before will be allowed.

  3. If the 4th of July falls on a Wednesday or Thursday, the Saturday after will be allowed.

  4. Permit MUST include description and quantity of fireworks to be discharged.

  5. Permit MUST date of event and physical location.

  6. Permits be submitted at least 30 days prior to event, Town Board will approve at board meetings.

  7. The permit must be available upon request of a police officer

  8. A temporary ban due to extreme dryness or drought can occur

  9. The Town Board shall have the authority to establish additional dates to those permittees who were not able to discharge fireworks on permitted date due to ban.

  10. A permittee who violates the terms of this ordinance may have their fireworks seized and held as evidence of the violation. If convicted, all fireworks will be destroyed pursuant to the provisions of Sec. 167.10(8)(b)
