NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING 20-YEAR COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE THAT the Town of Washington Island Zoning and Planning Committee (WIZAP) will hold a public hearing on the proposed adoption of the Town of Washington Comprehensive Plan. The public hearing will be held as part of the WIZAP meeting on September 3, 2024, at 6:30 PM at the Washington Island Community Center Rutledge Room, 910 Main Road, Washington Island, WI. The WIZAP may act following the public hearing on the proposed adoption of the Town of Washington Comprehensive Plan.

ALSO TAKE NOTICE THAT an open house informational meeting will precede the abovementioned public hearing from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Washington Island Community Center Rutledge Room. The open house is an additional opportunity for town residents and other interested individuals to review and ask questions about the town’s comprehensive plan.

The proposed comprehensive plan update contains revised inventory and analysis of the town's physical setting, demographics, housing, community facilities, transportation facilities, and land uses. With assistance from the Bay-Lake Regional Plan Commission, the Town of Washington developed the proposed comprehensive plan update that describes how the Town of Washington envisions its development and preservation of land in the town during the next 20 years. The proposed plan includes goals and actions as well as land use recommendations depicted on a Future Land Use Plan map.

Copies of the proposed Town of Washington Comprehensive Plan are available for review at the following locations:

• Washington Island Town Office (during office hours), 910 Main Road, Washington Island, WI (inside the Community Center); and

• The proposed Town of Washington comprehensive plan update is also available online at the following website:

Written comments on the proposed comprehensive plan update should be submitted to the Town of Washington at the Town Office or email to townoffice@washingtonisland-wi.gov before September 3, 2024. All written comments will be forwarded to the Town of Washington Island Zoning and Planning Committee.
