TOWN BOARD MEETING

MINUTES

Tuesday, January 24^th, 2012

7:00 p.m.

Rutledge Room in the Community Center

1. Call Meeting to Order:  Chairman Joel Gunnlaugsson called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

1. Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag:  Chairman Gunnlaugsson led the meeting in the Pledge of Allegiance.

1. Roll Call by Town Clerk:  In addition to Chairman Gunnlaugsson; Liz Holmes, Randy Sorensen, Ron Overdahl and Tom Jordan were present.

1. Town Chairman Remarks:  Chairman Gunnlaugsson recognized Jill & Orion Mann,  Doug Delaporte and the School Team and students for installing the backboard basketball score board protector.

1. Approval of Minutes: Sorensen motioned, Overdahl second to accept the minutes of the Regular Town Board Meeting – December 27^th, 2011.  Motion carried unanimously.

1. Public Comments:  No public comments were stated.

1. Supervisors Response:  Gunnlaugsson stated he was working on plans in conjunction with the Parks Committee to improve the end of Main Road on Detroit Harbor.  It has been checked by the DNR and it can be done however, the Town owned road does not run all the way to the water.  Some of that property is owned by others, so a Quit Claim Deed would need to be obtained.  This will be also discussed at a later meeting.

1. Approval of Bills and/or Journal Entries (Including all Town Committee bills):  Motion by Sorensen, second by Holmes to approve all submitted bills.  Motion carried unanimously.

1. Department Activity Reports:  Motion by Holmes, second by Sorensen to approve all submitted Department Reports.  Motion carried unanimously.

7. Landfill
8. Financial Report – all committees and Special Accounts
9. Utility District Financial Statements
10. Oral reports from Supervisors appointed Departments.

1.   Communications:  Motion by Holmes, second by Sorensen to accept the Communications. Motion carried unanimously.

1. Wisconsin Towns Association Unit meeting.  Possible Attendance of any Board members?  Thursday, February 9^th at 7:00 p.m. at Baileys Harbor Town Hall
2. DC Zoning and Planning Department Training and meeting. Possible Board member attendance? Tuesday, January 31^st at 5:30 p.m. at DC Government Center.

1.   New Business: 
2. Training request from Officer Gary Schultz, WIPD– State and Local Law Enforcement Symposium.  Motion by Holmes, second by Sorensen to approve Officer Schultz’s attendance.  Motion carried unanimously.

1. Request of WI Lions Club to use/rent space from Town of Washington.  Motion by Sorensen, second by Jordan to approve and enter into an agreement with the WI Lions Club to rent the North stall of the garage at the airport at 15¢ per s/f.  The Lions Club trailers are to be parked at the Airport at no charge.  The Lions Club will provide proof of insurance on all stored items and vehicles.  Motion carried with the ayes being Gunnlaugsson, Sorensen, Holmes and Jordan.  Supervisor Overdahl recused himself re: conflict of interest.

1. Rec.CenterEmployee’s. Pass thru funding approval of Employee Wage increase.  Motion by Holmes, second by Sorensen to approve the salary increases for Recreation Center Employee’s.  Motion carried unanimously.

1. Schedule dates for Employee Evaluation’s Sample forms enclosed.  Bring your own ideas too!  Motion by Holmes, second by Overdahl to set dates to begin employee evaluations. Tentative dates as follows:
2. Monday January 30^th Greg, Tyler, Jeff
3. Monday February 6^th – Steve, Jon, Lee
4. Tuesday February 7^th – Gary, Lu, Karen
5. Monday February 13^th – Valerie, Tammy, Leo, Tom

1. Approval to go into closed sessionunder statute 19.85(1)(e) for the       deliberating or negotiating the purchase of public properties, investing funds, or conducting other specified business. Holmes motioned, second by Overdahl to enter into Closed Session.  Motion carried by Roll Call vote at 8:13 p.m.
