MINUTES
A. ROLL CALL - Chairman Tim Jessen called the meeting to order at 6:32 p.m. In addition to Jessen the following Supervisors were present by roll call; Ron Overdahl, Liz Holmes, Joel Gunnlaugsson and Randal Sorensen.
B. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE - the Pledge was led by Chairman Jessen
C. PUBLIC COMMENTS - None
D. APPROVAL OF MINUTES - Motion was made by Sorensen, seconded by Holmes to approve Minutes of Town Board Meeting, July 11, 2007; Minutes of Special Town Board Meeting July, 25, 2007. Motion carried.
E. APPROVAL OF BILLS - (Including all Town Committee bills): Motion made by Holmes, seconded by Gunnlaugsson to approve all bills. Motion carried.
F. DEPARTMENT ACTIVITY REPORTS - Motion made by Holmes, seconded by Gunnlaugsson to accept the following activity reports. Motion carried.

3. Rescue Squad
4. Fire Department
5. Landfill
6. Airport
7. Financial
G. COMMUNICATIONS - Motion made by Overdahl, seconded by Holmes to receive and file the following communications. Motion carried.
1. Building Permits
2. DNR - Assuring Proper Asbestos Disposal
3. The Horton Group – Insurance Coverage
4. Friends of Plum and Pilot Islands – 1940’s Coast Guard Patrol Boat Auction
5. Waste Management of North East WI – Discontinuation of Services

I. NEW BUSINESS -
1. Approval for Clerk/Treasurer to solicit bids for Accounting Firm for services covering one year for 2008 – Motion made by Sorensen, seconded by Gunnlaugsson. Motion carried.
2. Approval of Driveway Permits for the following:
• Leroy Bass: Motion made by Holmes/seconded by Gunnlaugsson to approve. Motion carried
• Joe Tripam: Motion made by Sorensen/seconded by Holmes to approve. Motion carried.
• Kathryn Kaniff: Motion made by Sorensen/seconded by Overdahl to approve. Motion carried.
• David Russell: Motion made by Holmes/seconded by Gunnlaugsson to approve. Motion carried.
• Jerry Sevick: Motion made by Sorensen/seconded by Gunnlaugsson to approve. Motion carried.
• Charles Grandy: Motion made by Sorensen/seconded by Holmes to approve. Motion carried.
3. Discussion concerning the feasibility of local contractors renting their own refuse containers from Veolia Environmental Services for disposal of shingles, or any building materials. Jessen conveyed information received from Violia for refuse containers.
J. BOARD MEMBERS COMMENTS -
• Gunnlaugsson stated he had comments from bicyclists about gravel on the road.
• Jessen stated 17 road signs have been stolen from the Island.
• Jessen stated the fans and lights have been installed at School House Beach. The toilets have been kept clean, although someone had put fish guts down one of the toilets.
• Jessen stated the raft had been removed from Schoolhouse Beach because of tampering. The raft will stay out, however the public is encouraged to find ways to fund a new raft.
• Jessen stated praise is in order for the Scandanavian Fest which was a big success
K. PUBLIC COMMENTS, ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA -
• Evelyn Kirchner stated something should be done with the driveway at Velkommen. Also she stated that prior to a meeting a moment of silence could be taken if the board did not want to open with a prayer.
• Josie Hansen and Lilly MacDonald presented a petition to put the old raft back at School House Beach, signed by 220 people.
• Paula MacDonald brought up several questions as to how the raft should be policed and overseen.
• Celia Hansen voiced concerns about poison ivy at the baseball field and town parks.
• John Yancy presented more comments about the raft and the behavior at School House Beach. He stated there was a safety issue with children 8 to 10 and younger. He stated the old raft was safer. He stated he would make a donation toward a new raft of a similar design to the old raft.
• Norreen Murphy extended thanks to Lee Baxter of the Town Crew for returning their sign.
