TOWN OF WASHINGTON
SPECIAL TOWN BOARD MEETING
Friday, May 11th, 2007
1:00 p.m.

A. ROLL CALL: Chairman Tim Jessen called the meeting to order at 1:00 p.m. In addition to Jessen, present were Supervisors Elizabeth Holmes, Randal Sorensen and Joel Gunnlaugsson. Ron Overdahl was excused. Also present were Tyler McGrane, Washington Island Police Officer and Stewart TenCate, applicant for the position of Washington Island Police Officer.
B. CLOSED SESSION – Motion by Holmes seconded by Gunnlaugsson to enter closed session as authorized under Section 19.85(1) (c) of State of Wisconsin Statutes, to consider employment, compensation and performance evaluation of public employee specifically the hiring of a police officer at 1:03 p.m. Roll call Vote: Holmes – aye; Jessen – aye; Gunnlaugsson – aye and Sorensen – aye. Motion carried unanimously.
C. RETURN TO OPEN SESSION: Motion by Holmes seconded by Sorensen to return open session at 2:21 p.m. Roll call vote: Jessen – aye; Holmes – aye; Gunnlaugsson – aye; Sorensen – aye. Motion carried unanimously.
D. ACTION BASED ON CLOSED SESSION: Motion by Gunnlaugsson, seconded by Sorensen to offer Stewart TenCate the position as law enforcement officer for the Town of Washington. Starting date to be within one week of his graduation (May 29th, 2007). Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Gunnlaugsson seconded by Holmes requesting Chairman Jessen to notify Mr. TenCate of the offer. Motion carried unanimously.
E. ADJOURNMENT: Motion by Gunnlaugsson seconded by Holmes to adjourn at 2:24 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
