The monthly meeting of the Recreation Center Committee was called to order by Willy Clayton on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at 7:05 PM at the home of Carolyn Foss.

Board members present:  Carolyn Foss, John Buxton, Kelly Jorgenson, Courtney DeJardin, Holly Herlache and Willy Clayton.

Also present:  Katie McGrane, Manager

Absent:  Daniel Nerenhausen

A motion was made by Carolyn, seconded by John to approve the agenda.  Motion

carried.

A motion was made by Carolyn seconded by John to approve the minutes of the

meeting on Thursday, November 19, 2009.  Motion carried.

Manager’s Report:

Katie reported that two new swimming classes will begin in January.  A Mom and Tots class and an Adult swimming class.  The regular lessons will begin on February 20^th.

The next event at the Rec Center will be the Lock-In on December 31^st.  Hervy Hodges will be here to help with that event.

Katie attended and passed the class for the pool operators certification.  The certification is good until 2014.

Old business:

We will be posting a bid notice to replace and install a new side pool door.  Bids are due by January 18^th, 2010.

The vending machine is a popular addition at the Rec center so we will continue to use the one on loan from the Mercantile until spring and then decide at that point if we should buy or lease our own.

We discussed still having one board vacancy.  Katie will look into our by-laws to see if we are required to have 8 members.   If it isn’t required we are going to remain as it is with 7 members.

New business:

It was suggested to one of the board members that the Rec stay open later on Saturday nights.  After discussion a motion was made by Courtney, seconded by Kelly to be open every other Saturday night until 10:30 starting in January.  Motion carried.

The next monthly meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 21^st, 2010.

A motion to adjourn at 8:00 PM was made by John, seconded by Carolyn.  Motion carried.
