The monthly meeting of the Recreation Center Committee was called to order by Daniel

Nerenhausen on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at 7:00 PM in the Conference room of the Rec Center.

 

Board members present:  Daniel Nerenhausen, John Buxton, Carolyn Foss, Kelly

Jorgenson, Courtney DeJardin and Virginia Thomas.

Also present:  Katie McGrane, Manager

Absent:  Herb Gibson and Willy Clayton

 

A motion was made by Carolyn, seconded by John to approve the agenda.  Motion

carried.

 

A motion was made by John, seconded by Courtney to approve the minutes of the

Meeting on Thursday, May 21, 2009.  Motion carried.

 

Manager’s Report:

Katie was happy to report the resurfacing of the tennis courts is finished.  Many positive

Remarks have been heard.  The board then discussed that the tennis courts should be locked at all times and members will have to come to the Rec center for the key.  We will also be posting a sign on the courts with the usage fees.

Northwest Petroleum was up in July and reported some issues with the tanks.  They suggested the tanks be bonded and an auto shut-off valve installed.  The two alarms also need to be taken care of.

The Island branch of the family centers will now be managed by Hervy Hodges until the end of this year.  The job will be posted for new applicants to begin the first of the year.  Hervy will continue as a volunteer after that date.

The Rec run plans are going along according to schedule.

 

Old business:  The old TV from the community room and the air hockey table will be put up for sale.  They will be sold for best offer.

 

New business:  The board discussed that it is now time to post the position for the maintenance job.  The job will be posted next week with the application deadline being August 11th.

 

We will be posting a notice for bids on the repairing and painting of the fascia and soffit.  We will use same paint color as was used originally on the trim work.

 

A motion was made by Virginia, seconded by Courtney to increase the fee on tennis lessons to 30% of the rate charged.  Motion carried.

 

The next monthly meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 20, 2009.

 

A motion to adjourn at 8:35 PM was made by Kelly, seconded by Daniel.  Motion carried.
